Last Friday 12th February I finally took a tour of several art spaces in the city. A comforting stroll that, as well as making me enjoy the new projects and exhibitions, allowed me to confirm the active programming of these spaces, and with all the security measures in place.
On this tour there were five exhibition spaces that made up the route. According to the order of the visit, they are: CICUS, Rafael Ortiz Gallery, Berlin Gallery, INICIARTE space and Di Art Gallery. In each of them you will find a very different proposal.
I start at the Centro de Iniciativas Culturales de la US with my appointment already prepared. The CICUS hosts among its proposals the exhibition “Queridos, Colección Jesús Reina”, a selection of works where the title suggests a close relationship between the collector and artists and gallery owners. We can contemplate photographs, including those by Pilar Albarracín and Juan del Junco, or paintings, ranging from the work of Curro González to that of María José Gallardo. Available until 19.02.21.

The next stop is the Rafael Ortiz gallery, where you can visit the exhibition “No ouvido há labirintos e cristais”, by Dalila Gonçalves. An exhibition made up of installations, photography and ceramic pieces, where the concept of listening envelops all her pieces. Available until 13.03.21.

The tour continues with the Berlin gallery, which I was looking forward to seeing. A new space for art that opens with the collective “En el estudio”. In the room we can find textile works by Irene Infantes, paintings by Rafa García Forcada, drawings by Ángel Alén and ceramic installations by Raquel Eidem. In these times it is a very brave bet and recharges hope in the cultural sector.

Next I arrive at the INICIARTE space to visit the exhibition “Viaje, código y permuta”, by the Malaga artist Javier Valverde. The exhibition invites us to stroll through his landscapes in movement. A symbolic journey through languages and media. Available until 21.03.21.

And to finish this art tour, a visit to “Pesadilla Barroca” at Di Art Gallery. A powerful exhibition with pieces by Miguel Scheroff and Francesc Rosselló. Two different languages in continuous dialogue that you can visit until 27.02.21.

On each tour there are new encounters and with them the perception that many artists are evolving in their trajectory or generating new discourses. There is no doubt that it is one of the many possible ways to enjoy contemporary art in the city. I invite you to make your own tour or simply visit galleries and exhibition spaces whenever possible, as it will not only enrich your own discourse on art, but also the culture that surrounds us.
